Weather
patterns
are the emotions of the
earth.
Weather passes over land just as our feelings pass over the landscapes of our minds. Though these phenomena are temporary, they change everything they touch. It is weather, feeling, that makes light warmer or cooler, that determines if the air is calm or windy, that tells the animals if they should take shelter or and come out and
play.
On a bright and warm day, the ocean is radiant and calming. On a stormy day it may appear terrifying.
Weather reminds us that even the most scary and gloomy feelings will pass. It reminds us that our landscapes, both internal and external, will look and feel different on different days. Just as it is futile to get mad at the weather, there is no use in trying to fight a passing mood. Instead, take a deep breath and observe how this mood illuminates and engages with the landscapes of your mind. Admire
the beautiful and the sublime.
